(home of the Ballarat Goats)
G.O.A.T.s is an an acronym for Geriatric Overseas Adventure Travellers.
The club started when one of our number (Nofish) realised to his horror that the grim reaper was eyeing him up and there was still a lot of things he wanted to do.
He suggested to his friends that we get together as a group to take on a challenge – namely to climb mount Kinabalu in Sabah. His friends readily agreed to the challenge for two good reasons –
From those early beginnings the GOATS evolved.
It’s a sort of “bucket list” club. Every twelve to eighteen months one of the couples in the club must organise an adventure that is stretching, exciting and a totally new experience for the rest of the herd. This adventure is called a TRIP (which is handy since that is the collective noun for a group of Goats!).
The job of organising the TRIP moves on each time from couple to couple.
So far membership has been restricted to the five couples who originally started the club. Probably because nobody else would be stupid enough to join.
